Message: Why is it that my 93 3.9 has been running very strong even at 130K. It doesnt have quite hte take off power I would like it to, unfortunately haveing 3:55 gears doesnt help. When I get up in the RPMs it takes of like a bat outa hell and to tell you the truth I havent been in too many vechicles that will take off as my dakota will up high. You guys would cream in your pants if you knew what my truck has been through and Ive got K&N FIPK, Dynomax muffler. As most of you know hte 3.9 is basically the 318 minus two poppers so its the "legendary" derby motor. My cousin is putting a 318 LA block in his derby car for this year and the thing is gonna haul some azz. This 240 is turning into the old 225 slant six I tell yah!

Message: As they say those Magnum engines will run forever. I have many V6 and V8 Magnums come into the shop with damn near 200k on them and still running as strong if not stronger hten the day it was bought.

Message: My '93, 3.9L just turned over 113,000 and runs like a top. She's getting a new paint job in the next couple of weeks. Plus she averages almost 22MPG.

Message: I have to put a plug for my motor. I have a 3.9 in my 1988(I know it is not a Magnum) but it has 297,000 km on it runs great, does not use oil and still gets 20 mpg highway/city average.

Message: Yup, same here. I also got a 93 3.9 magnum. I bought it two years ago from a dealer who said that the guy who bought it wasn't exactly the most compitent guy about oil changes, so he was honest enough to show me the black sludge in the valve train. Though...what really sold me on that truck was the test drive. Phenomenal!! My father was awe-struck from what he seen before to the power he felt. Then I got to drive it, and it was just amazing. I'm planning on building another 3.9 magnum for this thing so i can have a nice fresh one without having to stop driving my truck. This thing still has plenty of power to spare...and i know some guys (with their heads hanging in shame) to prove it. :)

Message: The best 3.9L Magnums are the 92 & 93, they have a larger exhaust manifold and weigh much lighter then the newer style Dakotas. I have a 93 and have drove a 98 with the 3.9L (both club cabs) and it seemed like a totally different motor. My 93 seems much more faster and pulls along stronger. Another thing is my 93 has been broken good at 175,000 miles and just starting to warm up. These engines run best right before they go 'pop'
