O.K., I have read quite a few posts on here about exhaust. Judging from the boards, I think I want to go with the Flowmaster 40 series,(not Deltaflow). The question I have is can I get an exact replacement for the stock muffler? I am pretty handy and I changed the exhaust on my 84 fullsize Dodge numerous times. I looked in the Jegs catalog and found a 40 series for 59.99, but the case size was 13". I measured the stock case and it is 24". Also couldnt quite tell if I needed offset/offset or center/offset,or what size inlet-outlet I need etc . I dont have funds to get a full cat-back system, and I am cheap, so I dont wanna pay anyone to do it either. Anyway, its a; 2003 Dakota Quad cab V6. Looking for loud, but not obscene, so using stock cat and tailpipe would be ideal. Also, will changing exhaust void the warranty in any way?

i don't think you will find a direct replacement. i tried and wound up buying the muff i wanted and a 2.5" piece of exhaust pipe from A/Z and did the rest myself. i have an '00 QC 3.9. yeah the stock muffler is as big as a barrel.

all them guys know not of what they speak on the flowmaster line, go to www.flowmastermuffler.com, ther IS an excact replacement in both the 40 and 50 series and a stainless 70 that will also fit, you just gotta keep searching the site, but they are there, and you can purchase directly from them and get it shipped to your front door!
daddio is right tho the stock muffler on your dak is about 14 inches dia and looks like a mini-keg
Jack ,,, No Magnussen-Moss act from a long time ago by US congress forbids D/C from doing that it will not void.
I used a center in side offset out on mine as a direct replacement, it fit perfect as far as pipe alignment went.

youd be better off using a delta flow 40 series on a v6 dak. i have an original 40 on mine and its very loud in the cab. and i hate to say but it also sounds a little ricey. next flow i get will be a 50 series
