Just wanted to say I finally got me a Flowmaster muffler put on... still got the stock cat though. Even though Greg and I think someone else mentioned on one of the boards not to have a turndown put on, I went ahead and had one cuz I wanted it to be loud. The guy at the local muffler shop said the best combo for loudness using the original Flowmaster 40 series was to have a 3 1/2" turndown put on right after the muffler (The muffler is 2.5" single in though...so he said I wouldn't lose any backpressure). Man, ya'll weren't kidding when you said it'd be loud. I like loud and I'm hoping I can get used to the buzzing in my ears when I take off slowly...lol. The upper RPM's aren't too bad, but DAMN the lower ones are DEEEEEEP! Total cost including labor was $107. The shop is a family-owned/run business and they are all straight from the most redneck parts of Kentucky... missing half their teeth and all, but they do a damn good & speedy job and their prices are the lowest around as well. Tomorrow is my 18th birthday...hopefully I can hold off getting any tickets for noise violations til then. I'm gonna write Street legal on my receipt so if I get pulled over, I can show the cop and hope he lets me fly...haha. Overall, I really like the sound...but I'm sure my neighbors are gonna love hating it.

Josh

Cool!!

i knew it would be loud, but i only recommend that you dont do a turndown if you dont want the loud buzzing in the cab. I kinda like it so that's why i always have turndowns. Flowmasters actually flow better with about 6" of pipe after the muffler. It helps the chamber effect and pulls air out of the engine better.

6.6 Lt. Big Block, 727 TF shift kit, 452 heads, edelbrock 750 cfm, .513/.513 284/300 crower cam, comp cams springs, comp cams pushrods, 1.5 roller rockers, dp intake, mopar ignition, mopar windage tray, dual exhaust w/ 40 series flowmasters, 4.10 gears, coilover drag suspension, approx, 3500 lbs

I have a Flowmaster with a turndown too on my 2000 V6 cc. I love the loudness and the buzzing. I haven't had any problems with cops or anything either.

Josh, I have the same setup. I love it! I don't notice much inside the cab because I also upgraded the sound system.

What do you guys think about putting the flowmaster on an 89 3.9 dak?
Would there be any disadvantages?
