Message: I heard somewhere that it is better to get a cold air intake before a new muffler. I can't remember where I heard this, but I think the person said that there is a more noticeable change in horsepower. Does that mean that if I put a new muffler on and then an intake I would end up with less horsepower then if I put the cold air intake on first? That doesn't seem right, but if it is, could someone please explain it too me. Also, if this is true, does that mean that it isn't good to install a new muffler while everything else is left stock? I am asking because I asked for a flowmaster 40 for my birthday, but I don't want to make a mistake by putting it on first.

Message: what they mean is that, without adding more airflow into the engine (cold air intake, throttle body, etc) you wont see as much benefit with a performance exhaust. this is from an article from KRCperformance.com that helps explain;
"When dealing with the Magnum Motor, the best ways to start modifying the engine for more output, is to begin with the intake. What good does it do you if you start with the exhaust when you're not putting any more into the intake than you were before. You'll maximize your exhaust gains if you begin with the intake restrictions."
good luck with the mods!

Message: cold air
Bigger throttle body
1.7 rollers
port match intake (optional)
some may need to drop plug 1 range colder here and
go with a 180 thermostat
Now burn it better MSD ignition
feed it better FMS injectors
At this point you will need to drop 1 heat range
on your plugs
Now do the exhaust
Headers
high flow cat
low restridction muff
After all this is done think about computer
upgrade
Jet 2 will help with low end and more pull around
2500 rpm maybe 10 hp but will improve gas mileage
from 1 to 3 mpg
superchips micro tunner 98 and up
Add a tonno cover and you will also see better
perf and gas mileage, switching to all synthetics
will help at any point during the mods
1995 4X4 stock 92 motor all the mods & cover
getting 23.5 mpg consistantly city highway driving

Message: If I already have a flowmaster muffler in and then get a cold air intake and the other modifications, would I still end up with the same amount of horsepower as if I had put the intake and other things in first?
