Subject: dynomax superturbo question IP: Logged
Message: I just swapped in a dynomax superturbo 17749 on my '01 RC 4x4, it did what the manufacturer claimed - the truck does sound like a stock V8 now but it really isn't that noticeable, mainly just at idle. I have heard some people say that the sound will change after the muffler is broken in. Is this true and if so, will it get louder or just have a different tone. Any help would be much appreciated

Message: That muffler is a fiberglass packed muffler, if im not mistaken. It has to be "burned in". There will be some blow out of the packing and the fibers will shrink a little bit. That will have some effect on the sound. Dont know if it gets louder, but maybe a lower tone, like posted above. Remember, you get used to the sound and louder is relative to what you already know. The longer you have it, you are going to think it is quieter, but that is just you getting used to it.

Message: Thanks for the help guys, I hope I can get a little more out of it. Might try a flowmaster 50 series if I'm not satisfied in the end.
