Dan,
Someone did put a Viper V10 into a dak... I remember seeing pics of it. Talk about a tight fit!

Greg, I'm sure you've prolly seen it before...you wouldn't happen to know the location of the pics, would you? Or better yet, I'm sure you've saved all your Photoshop works of art...could you post the pics of the Dak you photoshopped the V10 into? =)

Josh

Thats impossible. They acll it a viper motor for a reason. It just fits a viper. If it also fits a dakota they would probably call id a dakoper motor or a vipota motor....

I saw that truck in person years ago. I think they may have moved the firewall back a bit for clearance but it just fits.

if the viper motor ONLY fits in a viper, why do they come stock in the Ram now?

I have even seen a viper motor in a challenger... pretty badass.

I saw one in a friggin Jeep!

The guy was a Eagles linebacker or something and had his own personal mechanic bring it to Moab.

One guy had a great comment about it though:

"I bet you could poor a 5 gallon bucket of water on that motor and there wouldn't be a drop hit the ground!"

If people can put a small block 302 in a ford focus (it has been done), then you should be able to put a big block in with room to spare in a dakota

He got sick of replaceing head gaskets. He went through like 3 of them running 8#'s of boost on that turbo. He didn't change the fuel management and it was running lean, that is why he kept blowing head gaskets.

Since he has put the 400ci (6.6L) in it he has blown the transmission apart, big cracks and rips all in it. He just got the tail shaft in and I think he is waiting for the Main housing now.

Later,

it was probably a little more than 40 hp with that turbo..

it was probably close to 100 if not more. it actually ran fine unless i kept it at 5000 rpms for more than a few seconds. I beat several cars that came stock with a lot more power.. and they were modded too.

Old Fool, i just got my new tranny yesterday. Truck should be running by tomorrow night.. woot!!

So Intense, could someone go about turbocharging a 3.9L with few or next to no problems if done correctly???
