Message: I'm exploring the use of a 3.9L in a T-bucket. I have a short tailshaft 727 transmission from an old A100 van I used to own which originally was coupled to a 273 v8. Is this a good swap or are there engine balance problems to worry about?
Thanks for the free post.

Message: since the 3.9 is internally balanced, you will just need to make sure the torque converter has no weights on it. could even use the one that was originally used with your 3.9 (if it was an auto).

Message: jim
intense dak39 is wrong!!!you can,t use the torque
convertor from the 3.9 even if it is a auto.
because it,s a lock-up convertor they won,t work with a non-lockup trans.
and a 727 has a larger input shaft then a 904 or a500 which came behind a 3.9
to see if your 727 is a lock-up check for a hole threw the input shaft center
hope this helps

Message: I was just up by my friends bone yard and spyed
a 1992 Dak sport 3.9 auto that was rolled.
Putting the motor and wire harnass in an older
dodge diplomat would make a nice economicle car
if I can pull 23 24 in a 4X4 with the V6 engines
just think what it would do in a lighter car
I have been wanting to do a project like this for
a while now
66 727 is a none lockup type use the converter
that was with the trans, as long as it was off a
273 it should not have the weights on it if it
were off a 360 the converter would have weights
and need to be removed

Message: Thanks for the input. Sounds like it is a bolt-up swap.
