This must come up a lot,but any suggestions would be welcomed. I have an 02 with the 3.9 . Its a dog and I can't stand it any longer. I love the truck but hate the engine. This is my second dakota after having a 5.2 94. How can I get more power and maybe better milage ? I'm even thinking of trading it in on a identical V8.

Trade it in on a V8. You won't be disappointed. Trust me, I have one! Also several of my friends have V6 Daks.

Trade it, you're wasting your time with a 6 unless you dump a
supercharger or turbo into that thing.

Speaking about turbo's, what would you guys suggest running (psi wise) on a stock 3.9 '96 dakota? I want to run a good psi without destroying my stock engine.

Thanks for the advise fellows. Sense I'm paying for it I might as well have something that is enjoyable to drive. That new 2005 DAK is starting to look like a great option, with the V8 of coarse. After all, how many people can say they have owned every body style that has been produced. Dodge will most likely produce the next dakota for at least eight years. If I keep it washed and waxed, ten years from now she'll look as good as new.
