Subject: 1993 3.9L Radiator Removal IP: Logged
Message: Well, my radiators has some leaks and I am having to top off the fluid every couple of weeks, so I was looking to replace the radiator, but when I went to look at all the connections, there were two screws at the bottom that hardly had any space to allow a tool of any kind to get in there and loosen them up.
I am sure with all the vast knowledge I have seen on these boards that someone has encountered this issue and know how to work around it.
It's probably something dumb that I'm missing due to my inexperience, but any hints would help.
By the way, I did a search and did not come up with anything.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Message: I'm sorry, I didn't mean hoses, I meant screws that actually secure the radiator. The two at the bottom seem to be very hard to get to.
Thanks!

I suppose that might be the case, but it looks like there are two lower mounting screws and my Chilton's manual mentions them as well.
It just looks like they would be almost impossible to remove.
There is no tool that I can think of that would fit in there.
Maybe after the top ones are out, it would lift up enough to get something in there.
I don't know?
Any other thoughts?

Message: Replaced the radiator on my '91 last year, two bolts on top hold the radiator to the frame, four bolts hold the fan shroud on and two hold the antifreeze over-flow container(what ever you call it)on the passenger side. Did have to use an extension to get to the bolts holding the over-flow on (could hardly see the bolts), but that plus the two hoses was it. As jazn said, the bottom has rubber that slips onto holes that keeps it in place. If you have an automatic the ATF lines will screw into the botttom of the radiator.

Message: Actually, my first name is Vance, but I go by Jared. It is kind of a funny coincidence though.
I am not from Pennsylvania, I'm in Arizona and I've been here for most of my life.
I did visit Hershey, PA once.

Message: The 2 lower screws you see are for the shroud and
2 clips on top
Once the shroud is removed than just 2 bolts at
top and be sure you do not lose the bottom rubber
mounts and they are positioned right when you put
it back in
The trans lines on the 93 should have quick
couplers, they make special tools for this but
get a friend and take 2 stuby screw drivers and
push the release in while your friend pulls back
and the lines come right off, be sure they are
clean before you pop them back on with a good
push
