Message: I have used these kits on other vehicles. They work great, but in my experience, the garden hose "cap" tends to leak. I even had a cap crack once from the engine heat.
My solution; I purchased a 4' long heater hose (the same diameter as the engine hose). Connect the 4' hose to one end of the Prestone "T". When you are ready to flush your engine, disconnect one hose from the water pump OR heater core and connect it to the other end of the "T". Connect the new 4' hose to the water pump or heater core. After you flush the engine, disconnect and store the "T" and 4' hose. This way everything is exactly the way it was without any weak points to leak.

Message: sounds like a good idea using a long hose. that way you can direct the coolant to a container easily.
thanks

Message: Actually, the hose is not for the radiator outlet where the old coolant comes out. It just makes it easier to temporarily connect the garden hose "T" to the vehicle. You could use a 6" hose but, it is not very flexible and can be difficult to connect.
