Message: I'm personally running on my upper half built engine the gibson headers, carsound cat, and cat back dual exhaust straight out the rear... Now you probably won't beleive me, but it truly does sound better than most v8's I've ever heard... Infact have you ever heard a gas guzzling bigblock V8??? Well that's what it sounds like when your driving around... With a stock engine with my exhaust you will lose bottom end due to no bacpressure, but I think with this setup I have gained a little in the upper end...
Hope I've helped a little, but most will tell you to just change your muffler and keep stock exhaust... Which is mostly the best route for slightly modded engines to go...

I have the SS on my 2000 and, IMO, it sounds half decent at idle but horrible when you step on it. I'll have to go against Greg and say it definitely still sounds like a 6. But, I've heard that adding a Carsound cat helps improve the sound a bit so I might try getting that next and a new muffler, maybe a Borla.

Message: Mike E, This is the first modification that I did to my '98 V6 4x4 and it runs and sounds great. I get a lot of compliments from people. It sounds quite impressive when you first start it up. At $350. installed, the Gibson side swept single was a great buy. Relf.

Message: Thanks guys, I have a flowmaster series 40 on it right now and there's too much resonance throughout the cab. Plus I had a muffler shop put it on so the piping is all crush bent not mandrel. SO as soon as I get some money I'm going to buy the swept side with a set of headers. One more thing, should I keep the cat?
Thanks:)

Message: I've got a Gibson swept side exhaust on my 97 3.9 V6 and I love it. It sounds better than a stock V8 in my opinion. It sounds best in the 2500+ range, and has an awesome deceleration sound..has some pops and rumbles, but not as many as a V8 would. Nice idle too. I'd buy another!

Message: BTW, I have an OEM aftermarket cat installed.
Also for performance gains, it does help a little but it's not like adding a rocket :) You can feel it though!
