Subject: I feel a lil safer now IP: Logged
Message: I feel a little bit safer driving a Dakota now. I live right by a pretty nasty S-Bend, and last night I'm outside standing around a fire and suddenly hear a crash. So we head on down to find out whats happened, and some kid put his Dakota straight into a 2 foot wide tree. The cops figured he was going about 60 mile an hour. Anyway, kid wasnt wearing a seatbelt, looked like the engine was about halfway through the fire wall, and he walked away from the accident. Had a broken nose and a broken finger. I feel safer knowing that these trucks can take an impact like that and the driver was barely touched.

Message: Although i don't share hmmm's idea, I believe this is luck. Glad to hear that he walked away though, please don't get me wrong. How do you not wear a seat belt, hit a tree and walk away? That is one thing that amazes me. You said that the motor went half way through the firewall, so that was a hard hit, but our vehicles have break-a-way motor mounts, so it should have hit the groud, or atleast tried. I know at 60, that it happend fast, but.... just a thought. Glad that they are ok.
