Message: Well, saved up for exhaust and i put it on and i don't think i like it. put a flowmaster 50 on, guess i was expecting more. it don't sound bad but i guess all V6's sound ricey regardless of what kind of muffler. Not only that but my acceleration is gone!!! Great low end, pretty good top end, but accelerating just sucks!!! my pipe is all factory but cut the end pipe straight and welded in a new piece straight out the back. if i put a bend back in and bring out like factory again will that create a little more back pressure and maybe get my acceleration back? i've got all the mods from here done, don't have cold air intake, i have K&N drop in with modified air box setup with 3" tubing straight to the front for ram air

Message: I have to 40s series have not had a problem with it like people have been saying they have with their 50s. And I have all stock pipes so that may help. And my truck actually doesn't sound ricey for a V6. I actually like the sound.

Message: Mine actually sounds "to be very honest here too" better than most V8's that have been dualed off... Of course I do have other mods as well and I especially like the cam sound that it has at idle... Acceleration does suck till I get it up to around 3500, but don't get me wrong because it is much much better than stock, but like I said I do have other mods and have lost nearly all back pressure and I have a full 2 52 mm bore holley tb on it... The exhaust I'm running is --- Gibson headers, carsound cat, and gibson straight back "cat back" system... I love the sound, because like I said, it's better than most v8's I've heard :)) Since you are pretty much stock, you probably won't want to go with this setup since you do pretty much lose all back pressure...

how can you have great low end but your acceleration sucks?
i would guess you have no low end then, and your high end is improved

Message: the low end is good cause i hardly have to step on the accelerator to go and pull a lot of hills now without downshifting. the top end is good once it is rolling, but when you hit the gas it take forever to get get going. I did all the mods, don't know what else to do

Message: Hey Greg, I have a Gibson side-swept on my V6 4x4 and my acelleration is quite poor as well. If I'm going 35 MPH uphill I get almost no response when I mash down on the pedal! My auto. tranny will downshift eventually, but not as responsively as I would expect it should. What have you done to correct this? Thanks in advance. Relf.

Message: If your not getting a good reponse from your tranny when you mash the pedal to downshift, try adjusting you tv cable her are a couple of links you could use to show you how to do that...

Message: On the TV cable
You can jack them up prety high just be sure you
do not bottom the lever in the trans and bend it
Here's how to check that
Disconect the cable by sliding towards the front
of the truck
Now have someone hold it to the floor pull the
cable out by hand until it bottoms, it should
reach the mounting tab on the TB if short back
off 1 notch at a time untill it does reach and
just bottom at WOT and not worrie about bending
the arm in the trans.
The shift points should be around
1-2 shift 20 to 25 mph
2-3 shift around 40 45 mph
light throttle
Also some will not shift at WOT if cable is to
tight and will bounce off the rev limiter either
back off or you will have to let of just slightly
for the first shifts 1-2 2-3
I have mine shifting at 4600 4700 just below the
rev limiter at WOT
1-2 around 17 mph
2-3 30 35 mph
light throttle
Next time you change the fluid and filter
adjust the presure up with allen adjusting screw
on valve body
RH hydrolic gov 2 1/2
RE electric gov 1 1/2 if you go behond 1 1/2 on
the RE's you will need to install a resistor or
it will throgh presure codes
You can go 5 turns on both rh and re if you need
more holding power
The higher presure will give you a faster shift
and help any slide bump shifts you may exp from
advancing the Throttle Valve cable
Transgo Shift kits work good in these
transmissions
TCI TransScat shift kits also work well in these
trans and include a blocker rod if you want some
neck snapping shifts 1-2 2-3 super fast shifts
tire chirping fun

Message: Presure check
Center port in gear break on at idle 50 to 70 psi
as soon as you touch the throttle it should go up
100 plus this is a good place to be on these transmissions
Nice firm but not jerky shifts

Message: I have mine set now to where it is shifting at 4800 to 4900 at WOT. It does shift a little hard in the morning when cold but the is a usual. And if I get a shift kit will I have to back down on the TV cable?

Message: watkinstick
No the shift kit will just make it shift a little
firmer it does not change the shift points that
is still set with the cable same as before
It also will increase presure aplied to the clutch
packs to handle more load
Less slipage and heat buildup with a slightly
faster firmer shift (heat is what kills transmissions)
