Ok i dont know if this was a freak thing or driving with the tailgate down really helped this much.Tell me what you think...

Most of the time i get around 90 miles on a half of a tank but the other night me and some friends were out driving around and i had the tailgate down the whole time and this time i did 150 miles on a half tank.I was driving it the same way i always do.It just seems like a big jump to me.
What do you guys think?

Oh yeah, its a 99 CC A/T

Some improvement possible
But NOT that much..
Fuel gauge is NOT linear..
Can only check by fill up tank....

I think that if you are only getting 90 miles to half tank of gas, you've got other problems. I get 200-220 miles on average on a half tank.

Completely full, slightly over 500 miles to a tank, 22 gallon fuel cell. Completely full though.

Shoot...I get like 100 miles to half a tank cept I think I could get like 150 to the other half if I ran it completely empty. Not sure of my gas tank size... 98 RC sport (2wd auto) if anyone knows. I'm guessing 15+/- gals... cuz I ran it down to the 3/4 tank mark and it took 10 gals to fill back up completely.

wow now I feel really bad.... I have a 22 gallon tank and I get a little less than 330 to a full tank. Got any ideas for me, I just never thought it was that out of the ordinary

I have a '94 dak with about 180,000 miles on her. i get about 230 miles on a full tank. But my gas gauge is broke and I go off the odometer. Any suggestions as to why it bounces around all the time. Is it the connectors or a ground. I'm puzzled.

Frebius,
Yes I do have a few mods. Cold air intake, Flowmaster 40 series (single in, dual out), Superchips power programmer. Also have autolite 3923's, Napa cap and rotor, and AMSOIL Motor oil. Before I switched to AMSOIL I was getting about 20.5 MPG (this was about 90% highway driving at about 65) and after I switched I just got 21.25 MPG (This was about 60% highway driving). This might seem like a small difference, but we all know every bit counts now with gas here in NC at $1.80 for 87. Before all the city driving on my last fill up i was getting 22 MPG on the highway, so In my opinion and own experience, AMSOIL has lived up to expectations and surpassed them.

Matt are you screwing with me? Is this for real? Damn, what the hell is wrong with my truck? I got a 22 gallon tank, 350 pounds of equipment in the bed and I only weigh 240. There has go to be something fishy going on here when I can only get 220 miles per tank.

Another Mark,
No, Im not screwing with you. I have a 22 gallon fuel cell, and get it full, to about 24-25 gallons. I have pumed about 22.5 gallons in before, and I can get 2 extra in even after it stops pumping and not been on "E" so... Just a guess. I have driven it to 500 miles and had about a gallon left, so that could make 520. I don't ever run it below 1/2 though, so... I get 22 MPG now and was getting 20.5 at the time i got 500 miles to a tank.

No, Another Mark, he's probably not screwing with you. On the road, I can get 22-23 out of mine (2002, bone stock) but around town I'm lucky if I get 16mpg. And unfortunately, most of my driving is around town. The worst that I've gotten is 230 on a tank, and the best has been about 350. But, my gas light comes on when it's just below a quarter tank and I don't think it's EVER been below an eighth. Plus, there's a dent in the bottom of tank (it's concave now), so it probably doesn't hold the full 22 gallons. The most that I've put in it has been about 16-17 gallons.
