I've got problems! I post on here all the time, you are probly familiar with my setup. Did timing advance, put AP3923's in to get rid of ping, did 180 thermo, brass cap and rotor, TPS sensor, K&N drop in. Gapped the plugs at .40 but you recommended .45, but .40 felt better with acceleration so went back to that. I finally got my flowmaster 50 on today, not sure if i like it! The truck pings again now since putting the muffler on. I gapped plugs to .45 and does not seem to help. This has only been since they put the muffler on today. It feels like i lost my acceleration but low end is awesome! Just not quick anymore. I kept all the same size pipe and ran straight out the back with dual SS tip. Is there a break in period for this muffler and will the pinging go away? Have not had scanned at auto zone yet. I am tempted to just put the crank sensor back to factory and put the champs back in or take the flowmaster off and put the factory muffler back on. I think im gonna have to get new plugs. Dont even have 1000 miles on these but i've gapped them so many times now. I don't have a cold air intake, just think it would consume more gas and i don't want that or better quarter mile times. What should i do? The 50 series is loud, there is a lot of resonance. I can't tell if its as loud outside as it is inside the cab.

I answerd on your other post

If .40 runs good stay there, sounds like wires
almost all stock ignitions will run a .45 gap
with no probs.

Try a set of reg 3923 gaped at .035 and if it
runs stronger you deff have some voltage drop
through the wires, $99 each at wallmart

but it should run right did you give it a few
hundred miles to learn the new exhaust, less back
presure with a freer flowing exhaust

If you have good low end the plugs should be ok
in heat range, to cold on these motors drops off
on the low end but revs great

I think he means $0.99 each at walmart- I hope. What's the difference between the 3923's and AP3923's, and which one is better?

Thanks sport02! Is there a performance diff. between AP's and the regular plug? I would guess that the platinums would foul less, right?

well, the AP's were working great with my truck gapped at .045 i was using them cause i did the timing advance mod and if you don't go cooler plugs you'll ping like crazy. But now over the weekend i put exhaust on and not so sure those plugs are good for my setup now. Heard somewhere that platinums were not good performers in our trucks, but then everyone else says they're great. they are expensive but the only way to really tell is to try them. I think i'm going back to the non platinum 3923.

sport02, thanks for taking the time to tell how your truck was performing with the AP's and the standard 3923's. I think I will try the standards now 'cause they're 99 cents rather than $2.99 a piece. I don't think that the Wal-marts in Sacramento carry plugs, but I'll check.
