Subject: 3.9 for a 360...??? IP: Logged
Message: I've a '00 with just a 3.9l and I wanted to see what types of mods I needed to do to plop a 360 in there...that's if I can find one from a newer Kota. OR would it be better if an ol' skool 360 found its way in there...? Granted I know that Mods are necessary but which would be easiest...and/or BEST...?

Message: I also have an '00 SLT V6. I have looked into dropping the 360 in, but I thought that it would be about as easy to trade in my '00 on a '99 R/T. They are roughly the same price. It would aslo be less trouble. Jumping 2 liters in engine size could lead to some serious problems.
If you really want to put a bigger engine in, put a new Hemi in. More power + you can't buy a Kota with a Hemi.
Just my 0.02. Hope it helps!

Message: real simple swap!! I HAD A 3.9 IN MY 97,now its a 5.9L. only cost me $900 too!!! bolt it in,change the pcm, wire in the 2 injector. You're done!! oh, fan shroud, rad hoses, lengthen a couple wires and thats it. I used a pcm out of a 99 ram 360 auto, works great. trans does'nt hold very well, but i'm installing a 5-speed next week. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, IT'S SIMPLE!!

Message: Have the tranny beefed, or swap it for a 46RE if you want an automatic.

Message: if you do plan on using your stock 3.9 auto tranny and converter, have the converter balanced or just get one from a 5.9

Message: I did want(maybe still do)a HEMI under the hood but the only way I can get the block and all is from a buddy who's boss literally has an old school bus filled with them. Just have to start from the ground up. What would be necessary to do that...switching for an ol' skool HEMI???
