Subject: MSD ignitions IP: Logged
Message: I have a '94 v6 and seen some other guys with msd ignitions. Does a 6a kit with a blaster coil work with this motor? Were there any improvements in hp or mileage?

Message: I have an MSD Coil, 8.5 wires, and 6a ignition control module. I'm not sure if it provided any power gains, but it certainly runs and accelerates smoothly all the way to the red line. I didn't notice any MPG gains, but that may be because of how I drive. I have also added an exhaust, intake, a 180 degree thermostat and larger tires, so depending on the mods you have, you may see different results. Also, I have an '89 with TBI, and if I'm not mistaken, yours is fuel injected, so you may notice differences there to. On my application, I have been very satisfied, and I would definitely recommend MSD ignition systems.

Message: Hey, Spyder, you don't know the part # for your coil is do you? The guy at the parts store didn't seem to know for sure. He wanted to give me a barrel style coil and not the other style like I have.

Message: the barrel style is okay to use...
i have the blaster II and it works pretty good.
the only problem i have seen is that if i scan my computer, it gives a code 351. Too many volts from the coil....but that's okay.....doesnt trip the check engine light.

i doubt you'll get the MIL light to go out
"have true dual exhuast no cat with super 40 flowmasters"
No back pressure
and man the truck must be a duck leaving a traffic light

Message: I agree with "LOL" you not going to stop that
check engine light not to come on for not having
a cat. O2 simulators companies long since
stopped selling O2 simulators after getting
leaned on by the EPA. The other trick here was
to have an edit for the PCM (not sure if its even
for our trucks but know its on others).
ROUND ABOUT ANSWER IS.....unless your truck is a
race only truck....PUT THE CAT BACK ON! there is
no reason not to run around without one. all you
are doing is polluting the earth and killing your
gas milage and HP. Just go out and get a HIGH
FLOW CAT from magnaflow.
I think somebody has been smoking something,
probably trying to extend the truth to sound
cool! Yet has totally failed!

equal total loss of low end trq.
I can bet that truck is a gas pig!
I'll guess 18 - 20 MPGs at best

Message: 8207 ss blaster coil
The MSD box coil and wires will show 5hp gain
on dyno runs on a stock truck
With all the mods they will show 10 12hp
One thing to watch is the cap and rotor the MSD
systems are hard on them plan on replacing it
every 8 to 10,000 miles
The napa mo26 & mo28 solid brass incerts is around
$15
Its just noticeable smother running starts faster
and should give you at least 1mpg gain if you
drive half way reasonable
Use The NGK FR5 Vpower plug gaped at .055 the halo
or the e3 also run very well with the MSD
The only draw back is the cap and rotor going bad
but you have to reilize its sparking 3 times
and more volts at 3000rpm it changes to 1 long
duration spark
OBD2 guys if your getting the coil circuit code
all you have to do is install there tach adapter
and you will not get the code
I have had only 1 failure with the MSD systems
of corse on my own truck went tru a car wash 1
day and right when the water was spraying into
the grill my elect fan came on and soaked the
coil and it went out about a month later

Message: All the slr chip does is lower the IAT reading
you can do the same for free by relocating the
sensor
Jet chip will add 8 to 12 rear wheel and help
off idle low end torque and gas mileage
If you can find one a 92 93 mopar performance
computer will add around 16 to 18 hp
If you want to get real serious try a perfict
power SMT6
timing +- 20 degrees
fuel +- 40%
Also can tweak sensor readings and sensor
deflection $480
