Subject: Scheduled Maintainance Upgrade IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 SLT V6 Dakota. I have a 60,000 mile tune up coming up, and I was thinking about replacing some parts to get more power. These are the things I was thinking about:
1)Upgrade to a timing chain with a V8
2)Upgrade spark plugs and spark wires
3)New throttle body spacer
Anyone have any sugggested brand and information where I can get these parts cheap. Thanks for your help.

Message: what are you talking about with "1)Upgrade to a timing chain with a V8"? Yea those throttle body spacers are junk, i showed NO dyno hp gains of the spacer on a naturally asperated 3.9. However i did gain 15hp when used with nitrous. Sicminds gave a real good ignition system name, i love mine. If want the rev-lmiter though, go with the MSD 6al. Also think about an cold-air intake, you want gain much (like 3-5hp was what i showed off it) but they help with mileage.

Message: You must have meant a double roller timing chain didn't you... BECAUSE all V6's have V8 timing chains or rather all timing chains in the V8's will work in the V6's...
As far as TB spacers... I really don't know nor will really say either way, because I had a cheap one off of ebay and it did improve in fuel mileage and it seamed like quite a bit low end torque improvement... I guess it just depends on what kind of intake and tb spacer you have...
But definately ignition and maybe even if you haven't done it yet fuel sync and ignition timing advance by +3 degrees...
