Subject: Suspension IP: Logged
Message: Hi all,
I am looking at changing my shocks and putting in the monroe reflex, but I was also wondering if it was necessary to change out the front springs as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Message: I changed out my shocks a while ago. I didn't replace the springs and it is just fine. I don't think you should have to.

Message: I don't care for the Monroe Reflex, they are too weak, but KYB makes a good low-cost shock. While you're under there, change the sway bar end links on the front to polyurethane. I did that to my 94 3.9, and it drives very flat in the corners. Best $15 I've spent on the truck so far...
As for changing the springs, they last a very long time, unless the vehicle has been under an extended period of uneven loads, or has been jacked up in one corner and let sit for a long period of time. Don't change the springs unless you want to lower it, get sportier handling than you already have, or just want a different look.
I'm cheap, so I don't replace things that aren't broken...
