Well I was cruising downtown with my friend in his 4.3 97 s10 and we're chillin when we get to a light and a (I think) 96 4.0 Ranger pulls up and revs his engine...At the time I thought it was a 3.Slow but in fact when we took of at the light it had one more liter than i wanted to have! By the time we got to 60 he was one and a half truck length in front...And I shat on my self. Well I talked to the guy and he was cool that my dakota did even as good as it did...but we raced from a 30 punch and i did better this time by the time we hit 60...he was a half a truck length in front....My friend in his s10 also got walked like I did...I asked him what kind of gears he has...and he said 3.42. O well I guess for a lighter truck and more horsepower I had it coming.

I bet that Ranger wasn't stock, either. He wouldn't initiate a race if he had been running a bone stock truck, I am sure of it.

Thats strange because my friend has a 93 Ford Splash and I raced him on a 1/8 mile track and won but about half a truck length. And his truck is modified and mine isn't!

...Kinda funny because I am still saying its a 4.0...it has more horepower and less weight than my truck..i wasnt surprised that i lost i am just stating how i did against it. I also have a friend that has a 97 3.9 dak ext cab and me and him race and i slowly walk him all the time. I have splashed on those fords alot but not on a 4.0

there is no way in hell a 3.9 dakota will beat a 4.0 ranger, a 3.9 dakota is really slow. I raced a 2002 2wd 3.9 dakota in my 1996 ford ranger 4.0 auto 4x4, the dakota was smoked easily might as well been racing a 3.0 ranger and if you know anything about that moter you know you could run on foot and beat it!!!
