Subject: Which tb did I buy? IP: Logged
Message: Here's my predicament. I bought a V8 Throttle Body off a guy. In my haste and utter stupidity, I got the year, but not the engine size that it was off of. I can't seem to contact him to find out either. Anyways, is there any way to tell if I got one off of a 4.7(hopefully not) or the 5.2,5.9. I was looking at my throttle body and the new one I have, they don't look very different, but I don't want to mess with taking the old one off if I don't have the right one to replace it. Thanks in Advance.

Message: The 3.7 and 4.7 have a single bore body and would
not even look the same and will not bolt on total
diff mounting style
The 5.2 and 5.9 V8 bodies are the same 50mm plates
with a 48mm torque step and dual bore look the
same as the V6 bodies
for 92 to 95 you need 92 to 95 V8 body
for 96 and up you need 96 up V8 body
The way to tell the diff is looking from front
the vac fitting on left on the 92 to 95 will go
to ported vac 2 little holes above the throttle
plates
96 and up will go to manifold vac and a opening
down on the bottom under the plates
use all your V6 sensors because you know there
good
get a new gasket about $1
bolt on, disconect neg batt cable and turn key all
the way to start and hold there 30 secs, now shut
key off and reconect batt cable
start let idle, shut off, start let idle shut off
about 1 min each time it may idle high the first
2 starts on the third it will settle down do not
touch the gas at all during this initial learn
now start and drive, it will take aprox 200 miles
to learn the new body, low end will remain vetualy
the same with mid and top end gains and most will
also get better mileage
If you get on it hard under 50 miles it may act
strange but don't let it bother you it takes
time to learn the new paramiders and adjust the
air fuel ratio
thats all you need to do
average gain from the swap is around 15 hp at the
wheels and will be noticeable after 50 miles and
get better through the next couple hundred miles
