I just changed out my timing chain and when I cranked it, it wont idle. runs good at higher rpm. could the timing be off and cause this or something else? the check engine light is on now too.

Yes it could be advanced too much and I have seen that cause an engine to rev at excessive speeds, but hey atleast it cranked :)) Did you degree your cam in right and use a good quality timing chain and put the keyway in the right groove??? The dot on the cam gear will be straight on top instead of on bottom when the number one cylinder is on tdc... The two dots should line up just right when the piston is half way up through it's stroke...

its a 93 v6 magnum and the book calls for the cam gear mark to be at the bottom. both marks line up in the center at tdc. so no offense but that cant be right.
