 Subject: 180 T-stat

I have a '98 4x4 V6, can I change to a 180 thermostat? The guy at the auto parts place says that the truck's computer will sense errors and will not run correctly. Is 180 only for after installing a chip? thanks.

The Magnum engines are designed to run at 182 degrees for peak efficiency. They changed the T-stat to 195 for better emissions. You can safley run a 180 T-stat without the computer throwing codes. I think the computer throws a code at 170 or so.

Especially if cooler air intake
Correct plugs and [ indexed ]
Have you done any other ' mods '
