Still trying to track down what the deal is with
my brakes, ABS light, brake light on when
driving. Pedal pulsates with ticking noise
when first driving. Replaced the speed
sensor and brakes. Opened the differential
and found 2 flat pieces of metal 1/16" thick by
about 3/8"x 3/8". Shape is curved. I'm thinking
C-clip broke on drivers side. Brake shoes on
that side had wear indicating the drum was
rubbing on the shoes. Damage seems to be
confined to a gouge in the diff. cover, and
some boogered teeth on the ring gear. Not
the big teeth that meet the pinion, but the
straight smaller teeth to the left. Not sure what
they meet. Anyway, assuming there is no
further damage, how hard to replace just the
C-clips and where can I get them?
BTW..Dodge wants $2000 for a "worst case"
rebuild.
