I have come to conclusion that my u-joints on the driveshaft or the tension pully on my 1999 dak 4x4 3.9 auto are going out... ill state why later if u guys want, but i want to hear from you guys what each problem can cause or what sound they would make of one or the other had a problem with it ( i am trying to narrow it down what it really is). Thanks for your help and any info on how/what/why these 2 things would go out on me what to do or its seriousness. sorry for the weirdish question but its in order for me to get a hint here.. thanks fellas ill check back soon

U-joints would give " vibration " on highway.
tension pulley should make " noise " at idle

You can put your vehicle into gear then wiggle the driveshaft back and forth to see if you have any play in your u-joints... AND like ? stated it will vibrate going down the highway ussually right at or around 45-60mph... Of course then again an imbalanced drivesaft, bad tranny, bad mounts, bad wheel bearings, and so on will all cause about the very same problems...
Don't know why unless you've got some squeeling problems coming from that tensioner or it's just flopping around that you would say it's going badk though...
Oh well...

yeah i got some massive squeelnig from the engine when its cold, and then i got the metallic meshy sound which i think r the u joints... hell i dono anymore

Noise only , Is probably like the
idler/tensioner pulley ! ?
U-joints will cause severe Vibration at any
decent speed ...

ok cool, becasue i have no vibration at all when driving... so i guess ill get the tension pulley and belt and stuff like that checked out and fixed since it wont be too much money, and if it persists then we'll know its not the problem... thanks for all your help
