I ran in to the back corner of a 40' semi trailer loaded with hay. I was able to drive it home about 10 miles and the temp. guage didn't rise a bit. But the radiator is noticabley smashed and there was some coolant on the ground. Not alot though. The hood is junk along with the grill. Each fender has a couple ripples but no kinks. The gaps where the door swings open are still perfect. No damage to the bumper at all. I havn't been able to get the hood off yet for a full assesment. Best case is a new hood and new radiator. Looks like the A/C condenser might be a little banged up, or it could just be twisted. I'll post pics soon as I anticipate that I'll need plenty of help and advice. Right now I'd just like your estimates of how much a hood and radiator will cost. I will call junk yards tomorrow so I'd just like to know what prices I should expect. Thanks in advance for everything.

Same goes for fire hydrants... dad's van lost to one last night. He was drinking, no one was willing to drive him home, and he was too stubborn to call me/stay put and fell asleep at the wheel about a block from the house. Then he got arrested and charged for refusing the breathalyzer test (he didn't refuse, he tried 4 times but couldn't do it right...i even saw him trying to do it). At least he learned his lesson though he lost his license and cost a few thousand dollars worth of damage to his van...he's promised us he's going to quit drinking. I'm just glad he wasn't hurt and he only hit a hydrant instead of an oncoming car/innocent pedestrian.

I've been searching ebay and such for new parts. I have the 3.9 4X4. My question is will fenders, hood, radiator etc. from other dakotas and durangos fit? Will any gen III parts fit my truck?

I had a similar accident about a month ago, only I slammed into a mustang going about 30 and I definitely was on the better end of that collision. The damage was almost exactly the same as what you described so I think I can give you a ballpark estimate. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the hood, bumper, grill, radiator, ac condenser and fan. The total cost with parts, labor and paint was about $3500. You said your bumper wasnt damaged and hopefully neither is your ac condenser, so that would put you at about $2700 give or take. You could definitely save a ton of money by either doing some of the work yourself or taking it somewhere other than the dealer because they charge an arm and a leg for everything.

thanks ken. I think I'd be better of if I the bumper took some of the impact. I was only going about 10 mph but it just crunched the soft metal. On a second look I do need an a/c condensor. I'm going to head out to the junk yards today to look for parts. I'm going to do everything myself and I'm not too concerned about paint for now. I've been contemplating a flame scheme on the front and now my be the best time to do it huh.
