Subject: Wierd Noise At Idle IP: Logged
Message: When my truck is idling, a almost scrapping noise is coming from the engine bay.. It sounds like almost a "coat hanger" is knocking agaist something. A really high piched mettalic sound, which follows a rythmic pattern. It's only at idle, and every now and then. It's pouring rain so I can't go thrashing around under my hood, has anyone else had this problem?

Message: I have 3 miles on my new motor it does the same. My bore was not round from the factory. If it is not a thud it sounds like a tipical dodge. Try to hear another dodge to compare.

Message: I just had something similar happen. I replaced the water pump and the tensioner pully. All's fine now.

Message: I had the same problem too, but two of my exhaust manifold bolts turned up to be broken, not mention my water pump was going out as well.

Message: Yep, it's the water pump. Mine did the same thing until the pump went and was replaced with a new one.
