Subject: Air Intake / Filter IP: Logged
Message: My son recently got a 1998 Dodge Dakota with the 3.9 L V-6 engine. He wants to 'beautify' his engine compartment with a chrome air intake/filter (like Edelbrock makes). Unfortunately, they don't make one for this engine. Does anyone have any other ideas. He's not looking for increased performance, just good looks. Thanks!!

Message: For about $140, you can get a chrome K&N air cleaner housing (just top and bottom lids, sides open) with filter. Be aware, though, that drawing in hot underhood air will slightly hurt power and gas mileage.

Message: I have a 98 v6 5 speed . The one for the 318 should be the same setup (5.2L) They are basically the same engine minus 2 cyl's.

Message: in fact he would have decreased performance with that round filter sitting on top of the tb sucking in all that hot engine air
