I'm looking into supercharging my 2000 3.9L 5spd. Will a three inch exhaust and headers with a high flow cat and flowmaster 40 series enhance the superchargers peformance. I want to put three inch pipe from before the cat, after y pipe?, all the way back it's just going to be a single exhaust that exits throw the side of the box.

I've been told negative things about trying that. I wanted to turbocharge my 2000 3.9V6. first I was told the damn thing wouldn't fit under the hood. Also that it would be hard to run the pipe from the right side of the engine back to the turbo. When I looked the supercharger route, I heard that the 3.9 doesn't have enough hp to properly drive the blower. Let me know how it works for you though. I still want to do something to boost the power in my engine before my cross-country, life hating, heavy as hell towing trip to florida.

Here are some times on some V6 Dakotas I know about that went the supercharger route:
97 V-6 auto w/powerdyne 16.1 @ 86.86 (raced in Phoenix so it was probably nice and hot there)
97 V-6 5spd w/powerdyne 15.8 (said he had a shifting problem from 2nd to 5th, felt he could have run a 15 flat.)
I've been researching the supercharger route myself and everyone has said if you go blown put a 3" exhaust on.

You actually have an intermediary pipe between your y pipe and cat ? My y pipe goes straight into the cat. Everything else you mentioned sounds good.

i would put a 3 inch exhaust right after the y pipe what good would the 3 inch do you if u ran it from the cat??? not much at all
