Subject: What is going on? IP: Logged
Message: '99 xcab 4x4, 3.9 80k miles. A month ago brakes began giving me problems. Pulsating pedal with ticking sound from under dash. ABS and Brake light on dash come on and pulsating stops. Dash lights stay on. Garage says pads/rotors/drums/shoes and wheel cylinders need replacing before ABS diagnostic can be run. Get parts to replace myself since garage wants $1400 to do it (at 80k miles guess it's time anyway). Still need to get ABS diagnostic. NOW a previous engine problem (from 6 months ago) has returned. When clutch is engaged (while driving) engine quits. Engine light on dash stays on. AC is blowing hot air (I am assuming system needs a recharge) and speedometer stopped working at some point in the middle of all this. Are Dakotas programmed to fall apart at 5 years? This truck is not abused (fluids checked regulary, cleaned weekly, etc.) but is driven daily to work and until 6 months ago had been a joy to own with no trouble. Any ideas on ANY of these issues? Thanks.

Message: Speed sensor is on rear axle on your truck I believe , Sounds as if it has failed .
Causing no speedometer , also will cause engine
malfunction , computer reads to set fuel and timing re emissions . Also may be this same
sensor used by ABS .
Could carefully check connection to any sensors
seen on rear axle to start with .
Chrysler connectors leave a lot to be desired..
