hi,my ? is this

i just bought a xp240 autoxray, what should the valves be on the sensors, volts

my O2 at idle is .03,a lean reading,if i bring the RPMs up to about 2000 it reads .09 thru .90
constantly changing like it should, but steady .03
at idle with a gas smell.

map is 2.4

tps is 4.9

and i don,t remember the others now.

if someone could give me the valves in volts it would help.my chilton gives resistance in ohms for
testing a sensor with a ohms meter.

its a 89 3.9

thank you

One - tps should read .4 to .8 volts at idle
Optimum is .7 , if much lower see other posts
re adjusting position to improve ..
two - What is the problem with your truck ??
Seems you might have a problem with the TPS
But ?????

Yes the o2 once in closed loop does what is called
a flip flop constantly changing from like .1 to 1
volt, if it were to remain at a constant that
would be bad, it should also be changing at idle
up and down when closed loop warm engine

Your TPS is low and should be modded to a higher voltage.

Take it off and catch the bushings with a drill
let them spin they will heat up and push out.

On some you also need to file the plastic down so
the washers do not catch. turn all the way
counter clockwise and than read the value .7 .75
is a good place to be. find 2 small washers for the
bolts and do not crank down just tight

After you do this and start the truck it will idle
high OK shut off restart it may do it again shut
off restart and will return to normal it needs to
learn the new volt setting don't touch the gas
while doing this.

Your MAP will read from 1 to about 4.6 my new map
reads 4.3 at 0 and goes down as vac rises 2.4
does seam a little high at idle should be in the
1 to 1.8 range you may have a vac leak or another
bad sensor causing that. on the MAP anything 4.8
or higher will throw a code

check key on not running should be up in the 4 volt
range start 2.4 and should go up when you rev a little
see that it is changing even if its off some the comp will
learn and adjust air fuel ratio but it does have to go up
as vac drops like by reving the motor

IAT and engine temp, high volts cold low hot
Engine temp at 180 should be in the 2 volt range
same with IAT 180 in 2 bolt range

check them cold should be in the 4 volt range and
go down as engine warms

All the sensors run on a 5 volt supply power changing
from like 1 to 4.something except o2 that is .1 to 1 volt
range

You should not smell gas check the rest of the
sensors cold and than at operating temp write
them down and let me know what you get

These sensors
MAP not running, running
IAT cold, hot
engine temp cold, hot
o2 change operating temp at idle if its not
changing at operating temp at idle something is
wrong there
TPS closed, WOT volts

This will tell me whats going on

Do you have anything to verify meter accuracy ?
flashlight battery maybe !
TPS is tooo high !@#!
Is TPS in stock position ( not modified )
If verified = probably need a new TPS !
Can be telling computer to send More gas
than it should be !!!

I see the vac leak fixed the high map reading

map 1.4-1.6 at idle is very good

cold
temp sensor 3.5 at 44 50 that is good

tps 1.2 Bad

02.84-.90 cold open loop this is ok

Hot 183
map 1.3-1.4 good
temp sensor 2.7 this is good 170 on mine is 2.9

tps 1.1 Bad this may be causing the o2 not to do
the flip flop at idle as it should be

02 .80-.92 this is not good

tps 1.,wot 3.0 this is bad and needs to be
replaced should be like .3 to .7 and change at
least almost 3 volts from closed to WOT yours is
only changing 2 volts bad bad bad replace the TPS

After you replace this recheck that o2 at
operating temp at idle it should do the flip flop
.1 to 1 .2 .8 like that and keep moving up and
down

Get the TPS replaced and recheck the o2 and be
sure its working closed loop this is what is
killing your gas mileage but the bad tps may be
causing this, operating temp and let me know
you may have gotten a bad one but first replace
the tps I cant stress that enough its bad

Everything else looks real good

Auto zone TPS made by wells and a good part
around $35

OK guys i,m back

key on,motor off,motor temp 183deg
02 .49
tps 1.2
min.tps 1.0
map 4.5

running at temp [idling]
02 .82-.89 constantly changing
tps 1.0
min. tps 1.0
map 1.3-1.5

i have put two tps, besides the one that was on,
all have the same reading, give or take .1

i even took the inserts out of one and tryed that ,the best i could get was a .9

last i changed the throttle body from another running truck same deal

thats what i have on now

whats this minimal tps 1.0 volts?

? two does the 89s have the same readings as the 92s up?

TPS on 89 .9 1 volt is good but it should change
more when open throttle like up into the 3.6
4.6 range at wot

The chage should be at least 2.5 to 3 volt from
closed to wot

That o2 saying changing only from

02 .82-.89 constantly changing
This is not good its lazy and not working right
that is your gas milage drop

Even if its newer its not working right needs
to change from like .1 to 1 .23 .89 .2 .8
.3 1.2 it needs this range

.82.89 is not enough it will hold your air fuel
ratio way off and kill your gas milage

Get the one for the truck, you will have to order
it don't use a universal on the tb injection they
do not work right
