Subject: Recaliberation? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 93 Dakota Sport Reg Cab automatic with the 3.9L V6 and the I believe the 3.55 differential. I have gone from 15inch stock wheels to the 17inch R/T rims. I was wondering where I can get the speedometer recaliberated. Or is there a part that I can buy?

Message: I would not worry about it if the TIRE OUTSIDE DIAMETER has not changed, as you went from a 15 to 17 inch rim, depending on the tire sereis say you had 78's and went to 50's it is quite possible that the tire diameter is prettty close to what you had, if it is, it might not be worrth the trouble/money to do it. cheap easy way to find out, over a measured mile, like the mile markers along the hiway set your cruise at 60 then as you pass one, take alook at the second hand/readout on a watch, then as you pas the second mile marker, look at the watch again. are you within 1-2 seconds of a minute? if so i would not as you are close to the exact reading in actual speed, off by 6 seconds? better consider it as at 6 second error you are off by 10 percent and that is 6 mph, enough to either get the finger and road rage, or a speeding ticket depending as to which way you are off.

Message: Found a couple of items that are a bit pricey but here what I found @ summitracing.com
Superlift TruSpeed Speed Sensor Recalibrator
SLF-33002 $169.95
Jet Performance Accu-Speed
JET-50110 $149.69
For more info check the part #'s above at summitracing.com
Again seems kinda high, but you when you are taking your wheels off during the winter because of salt deposits eating you new wheels. Might be a good idea. You might not have snow in your part of the country but yesterday we had about a 2" of wet snow in Western Kentucky. Whats up with that....

Message: KRC also sells a speedo calibration unit to
correct speedo from gear or tire changes.
It plugs into your speed sensor and you just move
the dip switches for what you need
