Subject: Could I? IP: Logged
Message: I was challenged today at work. I work with a guy who drives a '01 Lexus IS300, he was next to me at a light when I was in my '99 Boxster (Gemballa TT) Obviously I smoked him. He said it was an unfair race (which it was) and then challenged my 93 Dakota.
I have 1993 Dakota Sport
3.9 V6 5spd
Cam - HER0814AL (Hughes Engines)
1.6 RR
Polished and Ported heads
Polished and ported 46mmTB
Homebrew K&N
JBA Shorty Headers
Hi Flow Cat with Flowmaster 40
ASP Pulleys
My big problem is the rear, I have 3.23 open Diff. If I change rears, to a 3.91, which he has in his light 215hp rear wheel drive car, do you think I could take him? He ran a 15.51 best at the track (thats what he said). I have never had my truck on the track, so I have no Idea what I could run. Thanks for the help!

Message: I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong...same set-up here engine and tranny....3.23 l/s diff in mine....i believe the 318 daks came with 3.73 gears w limited slip from the factory..I found one in the junkyard for 400.00, didn't know how good a deal it was though...needless to say I didn't get it and it went to the crusher...wish I did though, sounds like you'd hold your own though...

Message: I think you'd hold your own too, but if not...do like some others on here say. Challenge him to the same race, but with 8 sheets of plywood laying in your bed and another 8 sheets strapped to the roof of his car. Take a guess at who'd win that one:)
