I've been in touch with you since i made the crank sensor mod. Great mod, aside from the pinging which can hopefully be corrected with 3923's and if that don't do it then indexing plugs. But now i notice when it is cold that when i get to about 2500-3000 rpms, something loud is going on and sounds like it is gonna come through the firewall, some kind of vibration that almost sounds like a loose lifter or something close to the firewall in the area of the crank sensor itself. It scared me, heard it like 3-4 mornings so far. After it was warm you never heard it. I was worried so i put the sensor back to factory and no more sound. What is this, do you have any idea? I would like to put it back cause the gas mileage is noticeable, but don't like the pinging. I know it is hard to say but will the 3923's stop the pinging and should i be worried about this noise? also, will indexing do anything other that stop pinging? thanks a ton

Yes it does sound like some piston noise,

Try the AP3923 gaped at .040 .045 and a 180 thermo
and it should be gone,

A good 180 thermo
Stant super stat
Jet low temp
Robertshaw GT775 I beleave is the #

The computers were designed to make max power
at 182 degree's, both power and fuel economy will
improve, I am getting 23mpg with my 95 4X4 with
the following mods

Raim air K&N
48mm F&B TB
19# FMS Injectors
sync at +3
1.7 crower rollers
Intake manifold port matched (no internal mods)
MSD box and coil
AP3923 at .060 and indexed
crank sensor at 4 degree's (made my own mount)
Jet stage 2 chip stock 95 comp
180 thermo JET
JBA headers
carsound high flow
Dynomax 17748
factory 2.5 mandrel tail
All Amsoil synthetic fluids

I would say around 150 160 at the wheels.

Its a stock 92 motor and she purrs getting 22 23
mpg in 40 degree weather, The stage 2 chips sure
help gas mileage

The gaskit match we have been doing on the intakes
brings in some nice low end torque. real
noticeable gain once you drop in to O/D also with
just port match no internal mods to the manifold

About 100 less than my stroked motor but still
fun to drive.

Stroker will be back in soon, I have 2 now

4.0 stroke, 10.5 to 1 comp
268/272 cam .505/.512 lift
50mm F&B Hughes stage 2 intake, 3000 to 6000 rpm
power band on this little fire cracker

3.58 stroke, 10 to 1
268/272 .480/.480
This one dynoed at 267/305
14.4 @ 97

I am giving some serious thought to droping these
motors into lighter 2 wheel drive trucks so my
eyes are open for a 2 wheel Dak, should drop in to
the mid to low 12's 1/4 mile, All Motor
