Message: J-man, my '93(166,000 miles) seems to be doing what you are describing on your truck too. I also have changed all the usual ignition parts(even the coil) and also the 02 sensor and fuel filter too. My truck still runs good and will still get up and go but the problem seems to be intermittent. Mine actually even will have a slight stumble if its acting up and I hit the gas real quick. Had the exhaust back pressure checked and that was fine too. I'm thinking either the injectors or maybe the fuel pump is getting ready to go? The weird thing is that it doesn't happen all the time and the truck will still haul azz. What do you guys think? Larry?

Message: Yeah, that kinda sounds like what is happening with mine. I was thinking maybe injectors, but my plugs all look good, so they can't be too bad. I think I was just trying to talk myself into new injectors! lol! I was hoping Larry would see this too and maybe he had some ideas. Compression might be the only culprit left, but I have less than 100,000 miles on mine, so it would be kinda strange if compression is going already.
I don't know. Mine will still haul, too. Doesn't take away from the driveability, but I would sure like to get rid of that embarassing stumble it has at idle.

Message: Have you checked the Throttle Position Sensor yet? Sometimes there's a dead spot in it. Use an analog ohmmeter and run the throttle from closed to full open, with engine off, and watch the ohmmeter. Needle should sweep smoothly, no skips. Or probe through the signal wire and measure voltage with engine running from idle to near WOT. Should get somewhere around 0.4V to 0.7V at idle, 3.7 to 4V at WOT.

Message: New info on problem:
Noticed the other day it seemed to idle smoother when the weather is overcast and rainy.
Then yesterdaym it repeated the trick.
That seems pretty backwards to me. Usually wet, humid weather does the opposite and creates a rougher idle, but mine seems to go the other way!
Does this give anyone any insight??
Thanks.

Message: Have you ' checked ' anything yet ??
Damp , cool weather will give cooler , more dense
air to intake ..
But either your O2 sensor , or EGR setup ,or TPS
are probable problem areas..
