I have a 2001 extended cab with topper. I live at 6,200 feet and experience low horsepower when starting off from a stop. At lower altitudes, my truck runs fine. Is there any mods I can do to get better performance without trashing my gas mileage?

Supercharger or turbo come to mind, but really aren't going to help your mileage much. I am also at high altitude, so I know what you are going through, but the only real way to cure it is to get away from the naturally aspirated engine.

Good luck.

At your altitude nothing will compensate for lack of air pressure. Not the place for performance.

actually the 180 stat may cause it to run rich, which as we all know, a too rich situation causes a power drop. About 10 years ago cars/trucks used to be sold in Hi altitude and Low altitude models., might be why.

I don't see why the cold air intake wouldn't help.
