Message: I'm gonna try the 3923's again as per your suggestion for pinging since i did the crank sensor mod. I would consider indexing the plugs as well if i knew more about it and how far out to raise the plug. I will probly stick a 180 t-stat in too. What should i gap the 3923's at and do you have a part number for the robert shaw. thanks a lot.

Message: hi, I'm not larry but indexing the plugs is rather simple, just time consuming.
I think larry mentioned you can get an indexing kit, which is basically just a lot of compression washers that are like the ones on your spark plugs now. What your looking to do is make the "J" part of your spark plug point upwards towards the valve cover when it has been tightened. Obviously you can't see this from the outside of the cylinder head when you do it. The easiest solution is to put a line, with black magic marker, on the white ceramic outside part of the plug then tighten the plug down. If the line shows up between the 11 and 1 o'clock positions you're in buisness if not take the plug out and find a thicker or thinner washer to replace it till you find one that puts the plug in the proper position. This has to done to each plug and is really a trile and error thing but as larry has said is well worth the effort. LOL

Message: It increases performance. Lary says by as much as 5 hp. It should also help gas mileage.
The 180 thermostat will help with your pinging as well as useing the colder 3923 plugs.

Robert shaw is GT775 or 755 can't remember off
hand but sounds right.
Jet or stant superstat also work well
With the sensor mod if you add some cold air and
the 180 than try the 3923 and see how it reacts
advancing the timing will raise cyl temps
some trucks react good to the colder plug stock
some don't, once the intake is improved they run
well
