got a 96/3.9L/ dak sport/ recently noticed that my cat converter has a problem (clanking noise). i was wanting to replace my entire exhaust system this summer, so i figured while i was getting a new cat why not replace everything. what would be my best way to get a deep throaty sound with out that annoying import whine? do i want flowmaster 40 or 50 series or maybe the delta series? do i want stainless tips or just turndowns? i am pretty sure of the set up (1 in/ 2 out) also, how much good would a hi flow cat do me. i live in a state that has emissions tests for inspections so i have to be legal, but not really scared of being too loud except for in the cab (i want to be able to hear myself think) thanx in advance for any feedback

If you want a nice sound without being too loud inside go with Flowmaster 40 delta, keeps the inside quiet, a turndown will make it loud inside.

anymore suggestions on perhaps a hi flow cat, and what kind of tips. should i go with long shiny stainless tips like you see on a lot of full size trucks or just have them run to the bumper and stop. i really cant picture what is gonna look good and what is going to look ridiculous. i was leaning towards the delta 40, but know i need to know what is going to look the best and sound the best from there without that import sound.

I recently installed a Catco Hi Flow cat. I got it on ebay for $30. The local muffler shop welded it on for nothing since I had them installing turndown anyway. No more rattle! This is my third cat in 3 years, and so far the best.
