Message: Owner asking $7000 on '98 V6 SLT, 2WD, manual trans, in good but not excellent condition @ 66K miles. From what I've read on this site, not everyone is entirely satisfied with their trucks. Are these trucks worth the $$? All comments appreciated.

Message: I got my '99 Dakota Sport 2wd with 72k miles for $6500 at a car auction. I really love my truck and have had no problems so far, unless you count the time i left my lights on and drained my battery. If you want a good place to look for estimated value check www.kbb.com . I hope I helped you some.

Message: 98' slt 110k runs and drives great. Ive replaced brake rotors, belt tensioner and shocks. I'm still running factory exhaust and no problems with the ball joints...yet.
With 66k on that truck you should ask the owner about the rotors...seems to be a common dodge issue. And obviously you may want to check the ball joints.
Also keep in mind that alot of people are unrealistic when it comes to these trucks. The 3.9 is not an overpowering engine...you bought a truck not a sports car! These engines will run a very long time with regular maint. and tlc.

Message: If you can do your own repairs - things like brake work, replacing sensors, suspension parts, etc. then go for it. If not, ask yourself this question: If I had to spend an additional 1-2 grand in repairs would I still buy it?
I got my V6 CC SLT 2wd auto @ 47K and have replaced timing chain, upper ball joints, brakes, water pump, TPS (as well as all fluids, hoses, drive belt and tires), all before 60K. I'd buy the same truck again in a New York minute. But if I had to pay shop rates for all that work....?

Message: got my 98 for 9k back in 2001 and it only have 30k miles on it.
the tranny went out from the o/d knob being broke. and had to replace the brakes and balljoints.
other then that really strong truck.
you should low ball the guy, say offer 5,000 and see if he brings down the price or just laughs. Mention things like the trans, ball joints, brakes, etc.....

Also i get a loud thud whenever i make sharp corners and ive had a new muffler put on it cuz the old one rotted away
