I have 1990 Dakota 3.9 V6. I am attempting to intstall an Autometer 5" Tachometer in the truck, with only one problem. Where exactly do I hook the white and green wires too? I understand the black is a ground wire, and the red wire goes to the battery. Green wire = Negative side of the coil? Where does the white one go?

I installed an aftermarket cruise on my truck. For a tach feed, I used the block terminal under the dash. There is a place you can plug the tach feed there. The white wire should be tied into the light switch. You do want to see the tach at night right.

the WIRING DIAGRAM that came with the tach tells you what each wire is for, did you try seeing what it said about the WHITE WIRE?

here's what all the wires do
power
ground
lights
coil negative
not sure what color goes where on that particular tach though.
white is probably the coil negative.. either way its not hard to test.
hook the red to the positive battery and black to the negative battery.. then hook the white to the positive, if the light comes on.. there ya go.. if nothing happens.. then scratch it on the negative battery and see if the needle moves.
thats what i did to find out the wires for my prowler tach.

white is for your dash lights, installed a tach on an older car not to long ago, i know for sure the white is for dash lights.

Where is the tachometer cable located in a 1990 dodge dakota, I need to know how to replace it as it stopped working when I changed the front disk breaks.

The Dak's don't use a cable, its electronic. Check your fuses, and connections at the coil. If that doen't work, you will need to check the wiring from the tach, to where ever it goes, you may need a wiring diagram to figure it out.

i wanna put a tach on a 88 dakota v6 5spd. can anyone give me a low down on installation? where i should hoook stuff up?
i would greatly appreciate it.

i happen to have a 1988 dealership service manual (thank you ebay XD) so feel free to use profesional lingo and what not
