The last couple of times I drive my 99'd dodge dakota over 100 miles i get the cjeck engine light on for a couple of days. Has this happened to anyone else or is something i can check before taking to the shop???

yeah check the code yourself
Put the key in the ignition and turn to on then
off then on then off and then on and look at your odometer. the code chould pop up then look it up either on this site or another.
