thanks amsoil sponsor, I'm never going back to mobil 1 again. I changed my oil today (the mobil 1 only had 900 hard miles on it) and it was already getting dark and runny. I couldnt find an amsoil filter in my area, so I settled with napa gold. I changed it and started it up, and after the inital oil starvation. The engine is smoother and much much quieter than it ever was!!!!!! not a single tick/tap! I am truly sold. its worth every cent! the oil pressure needle dosent even fluctuate as much as it did.... (10w40)

keep up the good work, and i will keep up the word of mouth ;-)

please no one flame me, you are entitled to your own opinions as am I. thats what makes this country so great!!!

DODGE DEALERSHIPS NOW ENDORSE (offer) AMSOIL !!!

This was posted by Sephiroth 3/20/2004
V8 Forum --- Subject: New Chrysler Product?!

Message posted by Sephiroth:

"I went in to have my brakes checked today, and when I walked into the garage the first thing I saw made my jaw hit the floor. My local dealership now uses and sells AMSOIL products!! They've got it posted on a big banner over the service-desks. GM may not have been able to get it for their 'vettes, but obviously Dodge was able to, or they found out how awesome it is and started buying at regular price! When I go in for a tranny-filter, fluid, and gasket change next week, it's getting filled with AMS."

Sephiroth went on to state:

"This is at the Raleigh, NC dealership, Al Smith Buick, Dodge, Mazda. I told the guy at the desk I was astounded to see them using AMS and that I had been using it for a while now. After he rode in the truck he said he'd be switching next oil-change in his Ram.

As for me, I've got it in the engine, and I'll have it in the tranny soon! Next up are the differentials. After that I need to get a dyno just for curiosity's sake. IF I get 3-5hp form the differential, and God knows how much from the engine and tranny, that'll be enough without any heavy mods. Well, for all I do anyway. If it is a significant gain, I'll post the results."

Hey Amsoil Sponsor (or anyone else),

If I switch over to Amsoil, would it be beneficial to do a regular oil change at 5000 km the first time, just to clean out any gunk that was left by my old oil, and cleaned up by the Amsoil?

I have heard that synthetics have a tendancy to clean up the engine if you happen to switch over, any truth to that?

Answer to your question ... YES.
__________________________________________________

Amsoil's 25k mile or 1 Year Extended Drain.

I try to be very clear when talking about extended drains. 10,000 mile oil change is absolutely possible. Up to a 25,000 mile interval is possible under certain conditions (normal highway miles), but please read further for additional information.

Amsoil has been in the oil industry for 30 years. Due to Amsoil's superior synthetic composition and advanced performance additives, AMSOIL performs much longer than do conventional petroleum and other synthetic motor oils. No other major oil manufacturer matches AMSOIL's 25,000-mile or one-year drain interval recommendations (whichever comes FIRST, changing the filter every six months).

However, the 25,000 mile /1 year that is on the back of the bottle is NOT an absolute! One must realize that is for non-severe service (highway miles where you have stable operating conditions) and that the indicated drain interval also has a time period of 1 year maximum as well.

***** READ THIS PLEASE EVERYONE *****

Under a combination of city and highway driving, AMSOIL recommends up to 2 or 3 times longer oil change intervals, it means up to 2 or 3 times the equipment manufacturer's recommendation (If your owners manual states 3k miles , then you can change at 9k, and if your owners manual states 5k then 12-15k changes would be alright based on driving habits ... the harder you drive, the sooner the change). Proper filtration is also very important. AMSOIL SDF Oil Filters must be changed at least every 6 months regardless of miles driven.

Notice: Modifications to engine will change service intervals.

Notice: More frequent service may be required under severe service operating conditions.

Notice: For drain interval beyond 3x manufacturers recommendations (especially the 25k change) --- Regular oil analysis is recommended for establishing drain intervals.

AMSOIL --- 30 years of manufacturing oil and mountains of data and tests make these clains possible.

Let me know if you need additional information.

It works out for me every 6 months I change the oil, 6 moths or 6000 miles which ever comes first

The change in a 4X4 going to all amsoil synthetics
is a noticeable improvement, less friction and
rolling resistance helps both power and gas

I would recomend it to any 4X4 owner for the gas

I am checking thru some old posts to make certain that everyone's questions were answered. You asked, "I have heard that synthetics have a tendancy to clean up the engine if you happen to switch over, any truth to that?

While that is TRUE, any oils ability to clean is very limited. However, synthetics do have higher levels of detergency, so a synthetic like Amsoil will clean the inside of your engine, but it won't clean as well as a product that I have mentioned here before, www.Auto-Rx.com. No, I do not sell Auto-Rx, it is a proprietary product.
__________________________________________________

Auto-Rx, I have recommended it multiple times on this site.

IMHO, it is the best flush on the market.

From my personal knowledge and per their website, Auto-Rx is a synthetic, biodegradable, highly effective, safe metal cleaner. Auto-RX is gentle, slow acting, and thorough. I know many vehicle owners that have used it and no one has reported any problems.

Auto-RX is inert in your oil,it does not negatively affect any aspect of your host oil except to clean and disburse crud to the oil filter. There are no negatives associated with it's use. Auto-RX was developed as an alternative to solvents for a slower non hazardous alternative that does not deplete, but ends up disbursing the crud in a very small form ... small enough to flow by bearings etc.

If anyone decides to use this Auto-RX product (For the record ... I do not sell it) FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS RELIGIOUSLY.

I wish that I sold it ... but it is a proprietary product.

Amsoil Series 2000 vs. SAE 10w-30 - Free Catalog
IP: Logged

Message:

bigcfromcinci,

Amsoil 100% Synthetic 10w-30 Motor Oil

Amsoil's SAE 5W-30 or 10W-30 Synthetic Motor Oils are excellent oils and have shown to be almost the same quality as the Series 2000 (our top of the line synthetic with the nore robust additive package). IMHO ... Amsoil 10w-30 gives you the best bang for $$$, and it is the oil I use.
__________________________________________________

Amsoil Series 2000

Amsoil Series 2000 0w-30 is Amsoil's most shear stable formulation (SAE vs. Series 2000). The Series 2000 reduces friction (better gas mileage -- fuel savings of approx 2%-3% in comparison to the 10w-30 in short trip driving), protects from heat and wear better, better engine cleanliness than the SAE 5w-30 and SAE 10w-30 due to higher detergency, better cold weather performance --- in any high performance application, --- and will provide the lowest oil consumption in older vehicles that are experiencing oil consumption problems.

(Special note: Amsoil Series 2000 0w-30 can be used to in place of 5w-20/5w-30/10w-30 oils. I'd even recommend it in engines that come with 0w-40 or 5w-40 grades.)

__________________________________________________

I use the less pricey of the two. I use the SAE formulation (both 5w-30 and 10w-30) vs. the Series 2000. If you drive your truck "hard" --- you might be happier with your choice of the Series 2000.

AMSOIL 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube Information
IP: Logged

Message:

Tedz 04 3.7,

Someone more mechanically inclined will have to help with some of your questions, This is what I have to share:

FYI - Gear Lube Information:

High quality gear oils must lubricate, cool and protect geared systems. They must also carry damaging wear debris away from contact zones and muffle the sound of gear operation. Commonly used in differential gears and standard transmission applications in commercial and passenger vehicles, as well as a variety of industrial machinery, gear oils must offer extreme temperature and pressure protection in order to prevent wear, pitting, spalling, scoring, scuffing and other types of damage that result in equipment failure and downtime. Protection against oxidation, thermal degradation, rust, copper corrosion and foaming is also important.

__ __ __

__________________________________________________

AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 75W-90 Gear Lube delivers unbeatable protection and fuel economy (independent testing shows class 8 vehicles with AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 75W-90 Gear Lube in the differentials obtained up to 4.83 percent more mpg than vehicles equipped with another popular gear lube). Amsoil Synthetic Gear Lube has the film strength required to deliver all the protection heavy-duty and high-stress applications need in a fuel-saving viscosity grade. AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 75W-90 Gear Lube is recommended for use in all passenger vehicles, commercial trucks and race vehicles.

AMSOIL 75W-90, 80W-90 AND 85W-140 Gear Lubes exceed the lubrication and performance requirements for gear boxes where API MT-1, GL-4 or GL-5 lubricants are specified.

__________________________________________________

Amsoil Series 2000 Synthetic Gear Lube

__________ __________

AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 75W-90 Gear Lube delivers unbeatable protection and fuel economy. It has the film strength required to deliver all the protection heavy-duty and high-stress applications need in a fuel-saving viscosity grade. Recommended for use in all passenger vehicles, commercial trucks and race vehicles. Product Code: TGR

APPLICATIONS

AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic Gear Lube is Recommended
for Applications Requiring the Following Specifications:

API MT-1, GL-2 THROUGH GL-5
MIL-PRF-2105E
MACK GO-J, GO-J PLUS
CHRYSLER MS-9070
GM 12346190
FORD M2C-201-A
ROCKWELL 0-76-E
EATON PS-037A, PS-109

AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic Gear Lube provides limited slip performance. Although generally not necessary, original equipment manufacturers' limited slip additives may be used in conjunction with AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic Gear Lube.

--------------------------------------------------
I am going to quote an old friend from this site ... Sandman.

... and I quote: "GM recomends 100,000 to 150,00 mile drain intervals. This is in the 8.625 rear end's equipted with synthetic gear lube from factory. This is under normal conditions. So I will apoligise for makeing fun of Amsoil's claim of "life of vechile" drain interval for their new 2000 Series Gear Lube. I figure if that type of drain interval can be aproved by an OEM then that is good enough for me!

Sandman

--------------------------------------------------
Amsoil Series 2000 Gear Lube is latest introduction from Amsoil offering a higher level of performance vs. Amsoil's regular gear lube. They start with a different base stock with a special additives package. Amsoil could have discontinued the regular gear lube but contine to carry it due to its popularity.

I have Freightliner customers driving Class 8 Tractor Trailor Trucks using 75w-90 synthetic gear lube in their difs. Tuff enough for them ... Tuff enough for me.

--------------------------------------------------
Additives -- AMSOIL Slip-Lock Differential Additive

Effectively Eliminates Gear Housing Chatter

When making a turn, the outer wheels of a vehicle must travel faster than the inner wheels. It is up to the differential to act as a balance arm, establishing constant equilibrium of torques and forces between the left-hand and right-hand driven wheels. In standard (or open) differentials, power is directed to the wheel offering the least resistance. This works well when making a turn, but in a situation where one wheel is lifted off the ground, it causes the suspended wheel to turn while the other remains motionless.

Limited-slip (or positraction) and locking differentials are traction-increasing devices. Locking differentials transfer all available torque to both wheels. The teeth of the spider assembly engage with those on the locker clutch, causing both axle shafts to operate as one. Locking differentials don't allow one drive wheel to spin while the other remains stationary. Instead, they keep both wheels in drive mode, but unlock to permit different wheel speeds when turning. The engaging and disengaging of the teeth on automatic locking differentials often causes a banging and clunking sound. Manual locking differentials usually use an electric motor or vacuum diaphragm to engage the locker, reducing this noise.

Limited-slip differentials allow different wheel speeds when turning, but when one wheel loses traction, greater torque is transferred to the wheel offering more resistance. Limited-slip differentials make use of friction between clutch plates, as opposed to the meshing teeth employed by locking differentials. Transferring less torque per side, limited-slip differentials are generally smoother and quieter than locking differentials, but still sometimes "chatter" when transferring torque to the wheel with traction.

In some differential applications, a friction modifier additive is necessary to reduce chatter. AMSOIL Slip-Lock Differential Additive is formulated with advanced friction modifiers and is designed to eliminate gear-housing chatter in cars, trucks and SUVs equipped with limited-slip, positraction and locking differentials. It also reduces the banging and clunking associated with automatic locking differentials.

AMSOIL Slip-Lock Differential Additive is formulated for use with both synthetic and petroleum gear lubricants and safely replaces manufacturer recommended friction modifiers. Its convenient flip-top dispenser provides quick and easy application to the gear housing. One four-ounce bottle of Slip-Lock treats differential capacities of two to four quarts. It is not for use in automatic transmissions or other applications requiring ATF.

NOTE: AMSOIL Synthetic Gear Lubes DO NOT require the use of this additive. However, not all differentials respond the same and if chatter is noticed, the addition of AMSOIL Slip-Lock will eliminate it. For chattering differentials not running AMSOIL Gear Lube, this product is an excellent solution to the problem.

--------------------------------------------------
DIY Helpful Information

For those of you thinking of changing your own fluids (DIY) ...

Helpful Differential Recommendations:

-Flush (drain) as much of the old fluid out.
-Differential fluid capacity depends on ring gear and axle housing size.
-Do not over/under fill differential. This could mean a capacity difference of a quart or more and may cause overheating problems. (See the owner’s manual for proper fill level)

AMSOIL gear oils are formulated with friction modifiers for limited slip differential applications. There is no need to add limited slip or additional additives.

-After changing the differential fluid, drive the vehicle in 7 or 8 figure eight turns, so the new lubricant can work its way into the axle assembly.

NOTE: Most vehicle manufacturers recommend driving a vehicle in tight figure "8" patterns eight to ten times after changing limited slip lubricants.

Synthetics provide the long-lasting protection, fuel efficiency and dependability needed for top performance, even extreme-pressure conditions. Synthetics stay fluid in cold temperatures for easy cold-weather shifting.
