I have a 98 Dak with 98,000+ miles. Took it in to have new discs installed and now have bigger issues. Need both rotors replaced, pads, and the left front hub and bearing assembly is shot to hell. Estimate of repair.....$700!!!!
Anyway, does anyone know of anywhere other than Dodge that I can get a new hub and bearing assembly? I've researched many parts stores and they all say the same thing, Dodge is the only place you can get it because it is all one sealed unit. Any info would be great...thanks.

PS: I live in California, everything in cost is a rip-off. If I didn't rent and had all the right tools, I know I could do the job myself and it'd cost much less, life is sucking.

You should be able to go to any local parts store and pick up a hub assembly. It is kind of an expensive part though, but a lot cheaper than getting it through the local dodge dealership. They'll always be the most on all parts.

I went through the same thing with my intrepid last year. Only place I could get the hub/bearing assembly was through DC. $700? Does that include labor? Just do it yourself - maybe a 1/2 hour job.

Did the third gen trucks get a different hub and bearing assembly from the second gen?

I just bought and returned one for my 93. It was $100. I had to return because even after I remove the bolts, I couldn't get it out. The old bearing was fine though.
