A couple of factors..I.E. Burn outs.
1) rear end gear..
2) auto or manual trans.
3) tire size.

Mine is at approx 200 bhp
and will lay rubber from a power brake..slight chirp on a hard start, unless I'm at the track then the tires spin like hell.

I have a 3.55 peg-legged rear,30" tires ( which changes my effective rear ratio to about 3.21..
and an auto trans..
If i went back to original tire size I'm sure I'd be able to roast the hides..

But with Gas prices my Right foot has gotten light..

When my truck was stock it would smoke them all the way through second no problem. After a few mods i could be rolling in second, break the tires loose and chirp them into 3rd. But this was with a manual trans, if you have an auto it's not going to be as easy. I drove a ram with a hemi, cold air intake, and catback exhaust but it had an auto trans so it wouldn't spin once you got out of first gear without powerbraking.

Burning out is so easy!! I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota with a v6 auto. I just power brake it, and the smoke flies. The first day I got it I layed tracks and the are still there. That was over a year ago.

red,

i kept it in first gear. What rear end do you have? I have 3.55 open diff. you might have a limited slip and that could be why you cant do them that well.

I held the gas in those pictures for atleast 30 seconds before i let off. I wouldn't recomend doing that stunt unless you are ready to buy new tires.

After that burnout i had to patch one tire in 3 diff places just to get to the shop. lol.

But it sure was fun.

it is an auto. and i am pretty sure it has the 3.55 gearing in it.

not too sure if limited slip or not. way to tell?

i did notice though the little it did burn it had two marks if that makes a difference. it had something around the rear end on the drivers side near the brake drum it was a sticker.

I tried droping it into 1st in my auto, but I get more tracks if I just powerbrake it in drive. I think that it has something to do with the engine braking in the automatic.

Also, if you turn the wheel either way, you will just leave single tracks, because your torque will be shifted at a percentage to that tire that you direct to. That how the car helps you turn. It is not about turning the wheel all the way. One back tire will spin faster than the other to help you turn.

So if you turn the wheel while trying to powerbrake, it will leave single tire marks. Leave the wheel straight, and then punch it! That should leave good double tracks.

Did it just the other day and turned the truck sideways!
