Subject: Ordered a 2004 V6 IP: Logged
Message: I ordered a 2004 Regular Cab manual 5 speed Dakota about a month ago and will get it in soon. I was wondering what you guys think of the new 3.7L V6, what can I expect. I am hoping it will move the reg cab around without much problem, maybe tow a light 12ft aluminum John boat around once in a while for fishing. Thanks in advance for any input.

Message: It'll do you fine...with it being a regular cab, it'll definitely move fine. I guess the 3.7's are sposed to be a lot better than the 3.9's and my 3.9 has plenty of 'get up n go' even when I haul my almost 500lb four-wheeler in the back.

Message: i've had mine for about 3 months now. can't complain about power, it has plenty when i need it. It isn't the strongest unless you get on it at the low end. or rather i should say when just cruising say around 45-50, supposedly it's another overdrive or something similar. so at 45-50 it's sitting at around 1k rpms.
overall i am very happy with it. definitely gets better gas mileage when you go easy on the gas, but will handle getting on it well for that "get out of my way slow poke" problem.
i have a quad cab, so a regular cab should be even better power wise.
