Message: Check this out guys, just did a new mod on my V6 that brought this baby back to life. I already had header and flowmasters on b/c of needed exhaust work. I finally had enough extra cash to get this mod made. It looks great, sounds awesome, extra power, and a lil smother shifting.. donno why the shifting is smoother.
This is put to gether with the following:
1 Fernco (actually a generic) coupler ($6)
1 45 degree 3" ABS plastic pipe ($2)
1 7" long peice of 3" ABS pipe. (5' tube $6)
and a lil ABS cement ($2)
1 K&N 6x9 Product ID: RE0920 ($43.88)
resetting the computer
a few dorm buddies help with a Dremel
and viola: Cold air intake.

I felt I should help anyone else that wants to do this with the cost and all. I trouble finding good demensions on here.

seriously though, what kind of breather filter is that? my stock breather elbow broke off and i cant find one anywhere. so i was thinking about trying one of those breather/filters from a gen 2 dak...

Message: Troy, I agree. Calling these "cold air intakes" when they suck in hot engine compartment air is a big issue.
I borrowed a OBDII scanner and watched the IAT sensor output. On a 65 degree day it got to over a 100 at a light. It took a quarter mile driving at 40 mph to get it down to the 70's.
Needless to say, I built a box around my air filter to only allow for incoming air through the grill. A true cold air intake.

Message: Well Daffydak, I last cleaned the engine last month... this Boone salt and sand on the roads really is taking a toll on everything in my truck. I usually clean it when I wash the truck. I call it "cold air" just because that is what it is commonly known. I think it should be called a Insane Intake my self... you can hear it loud at 3000RPM. I know it isn't cold and I am not gonna move the sensor just b/c I don't feel it is nessecary. I am doin a TB this summer along with suspension lift and new tires/rims. it is runnin smooth. I have drivin about 70 miles since I put it on. No prob yet.

Message: Troy, I guess I'd have to decide after i knew what all it entails. I was just curious if this is a kit or a homebrew and what kind of costs and materials needed. My initial thoughts were to run one to the stock airbox and modify the airbox with a tube up to the rubber flap...I'm still brain storming though...
Personally I think alot of people would be interested in seeing a "how to" of your intake. It's pretty clean looking and looks like it would do the trick.
