Subject: Topeka KS Dealership IP: Logged
Message: My 90 Dakota 3.9 liter would stall when stopping. There were no fault codes and I thought maybe it was a faulty EGR valve. Not wanting to "throw money" at it, I took it to Brigg's Dodge in Topeka, KS. They told me that it showed a fault code for a bad thermostat (hello? do I look stoopid? Apparently!). I reluctantly asked how much...Oh...about $150.00 they said. They also recommended that I flush the system. I paid them their $45.02 bill for their expert diagnosis. I then went to the parts store, bought an EGR valve, replaced it in 15 minutes and the truck runs just fine. I was just wondering if anyone knows...
Was the price of the thermostat $50.00 and labor to install it $100.00? Or vise-versa? After all you have to remove the air breather and upper radiator hose to change the thermostat. It must be a 15 minute job for even a novice.
Just venting...Hope everyone who reads this is having a great day.

Message: Good diagnosis on your part !!
Sounds like a good dealer to Stay Away from.
Thermostat should be less than $ 25.00
although they possibly were changing your
antifreeze solution as well, possible $ 50.00
