at some point the air injection tube that connects to the side of the catalytic convereter came loose and instead of repairing replacing the pipe, someone screwed a bolt into the hole in the converter (where the pipe should have been attached) and then connected the pipe to it with a hose clamp so it wouldnt rattle around. Will this cause my Catalytic converter to clog up and eventually fail? Any suggestion on how to re attach the air in jection tube? Thanks

87 - Catalytic Converter loose Air injection tube
IP: Logged

Message:
FYI - I pulled out the bolt and re attached the tube. I cut a two inch long piece of half inch copper tube. I slit the tube up the middle with tin snips and and reduced the diamater of the tubing by squeezing it with a pair of pliers. Sort of like a swiss role, looking thru the tube it would look sort of like this -> @. I squeezed it down till it fit into the whole for the cat and then tapped it in an inch with a hammer. this left a one inch stub to attach the loose tube too. I just pushed into place. so far its holding up OK and it feels like the cat is starting to breath a little better.

i had the same prob i did the same thing but instead of copper pipe i used rowmax tubing *used to cover a large amount of wires* it help cuz all i did was twist it around so one side was thiner in diameter than the other. Since it technecly was threded it screwed right in and i put the tub up and it been workin pretty good it at least got rid of the exhuast leak i had
