Subject: 1995 3.9L stalls IP: Logged
Message: Hi
V6 4x4 started stalling while idling. Ran out of gas this morning because sender/gauge is malfunctioning. Now stalls both at idle and at speed and doesn't respond when trying to accelerate. Was on the way to get a new EGR valve but didn't make it. Stalled and refused to start. Not flooded. Should I reset the computer and try again? Could it be the fuel pump? How do you change the fuel pump? Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Message: Check your fuel pressure first, should be in the neighborhood of about 40-50 psi. Also, are you getting a check engine light? Check your crank sensor as well as camshaft position sensor. (these parts if bad will set a light). Also check and see if you getting a spark. If not let me konw i have another test to isolate the prob.

Message: I am having the same problem with my girlfriends sons 93 dakota 3.9L. few days ago he said the truck was running great, went to leave and would not start. he has never run out of fuel and it is clean with good pressure. the plugs all look good, the wires and dist are newer and appear to be ok. i got the truck started last night, first chance i had to look at it, by putting my foot to the floor. it started, but was reluctant and didn't sound like all 6 were firing. reved it a few times and it seemed to idle ok. followed him home, truck had no response/power, couldn't get it above 50mph. now it starts but the idle is low and it stalls. if you give it a little throttle, it will run but the idle varies up and down about 1200rpm's. any and all help would be greatly appreciated, hate to get a mechanic involved and pay for things that don't resolve the problem while he is guessing at it...

Message: Possible - EGR valve/sensor/solenoid
comes as package
Possible wiring harness ' splice '
under the underhood fusebox -6 to 8 inches
find a splice of 3 or 4 wires
Redo that splice = probable green with corrosion
Also possible - dirty Idle Air Control
Back of throttle body
