Hey everybody! The kid is back with another question. My 2000 Dakota SLT will only go about 98 miles per hour at the fastest. My moms 2000 4-Runner will do 108 with ease. I think that it has something to do with the gear ratios. Is this true and if so, can I change mine to do that?

There is a built in speed limiter for around 100 mph.

You can get a Superchips programmer for your truck that will add power and remove that limiter!

My truck has 3.92 gears. I have topped it out at 105 and had plenty more to go. I am almost positive I could have hit 120. That is with no mods to the truck at all. So..I dont know.

I figured that there was a limiter on the truck around 100. How fast will the truck go without the limiter?

With 3.92 gear ratio, the stock automatic transmission, and the
red line at 4800, you can go 138 mph in O/D without the speed
limiter.
